The Jeep® Cherokee has always been a staple model here at Gillman Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM of Houston, TX, so we are especially excited about the all-new 2017 Jeep Cherokee model. The latest version of the classic Jeep SUV is as exciting on a neighborhood street as it is off-road on a forest trail.
The Jeep Cherokee first came onto the scene back in 1977, as a sportier version to the two-door Jeep Wagoneer that was popular with families. The first official Jeep Cherokee was coined in 1984. Minor changes in the model happened in the next few decades, and in 1997, the Jeep Cherokee received a major upgrade to both its exterior and interior.
Now in its fifth generation, the 2017 Jeep Cherokee comes in five major trim levels (Sport, Latitude, Trailhawk®, Limited, and Overland) with a standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that is capable of producing 184 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission also comes standard.
Drivers love the updated comfort technology for the new model, which includes standard features like SIRIUSXM® Radio, remote keyless entry, speed-sensing steering, and Uconnect® with Bluetooth®. Optional features include additional items such as a rearview camera in the Latitude model, hill ascent and descent control in the Trailhawk trim, a wiper de-icer in the Limited version, and driver memory functions in the Overland trim.
Important to note is the vehicle’s safety: the 2017 Jeep Cherokee received a four out of five overall rating in government crash tests as well as the best rating in crash tests for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
