FCA US LLC, and as an extension, Gillman Chrysler Dodge RAM, worked out an agreement with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on the proper steps that will be taken during a recall campaign. Automobile manufacturers must now take certain steps or they risk facing disciplinary action and financial penalties. Through the agreement, certain actions and penalties have been established that we wish to inform you of:

1.      Civil Penalties could be implemented in the amount of up to $105 million that for previous handling of recalls and information:

a.      $20 million over the lifetime of the Agreement to develop, implement and support wide-ranging initiatives to enhance vehicle safety by working with people from suppliers to help them better understand potential safety issues to distributing safety-related materials at trade shows.

b.      The Company could face up $70 million in fines for the handling of various recalls that mostly affected older vehicles.

2.      A commitment to encourage drivers to respond to recall notices:  FCA US LLC has agreed to incentivize customers that are affected by the recalls:

a.      For example, customers who are affected by the current high-profile Jeep campaign can be rewarded for scheduling the service (if they haven't already had it taken care of) with a $100 gift card upon presenting their Jeep vehicle to us for inspection.

3.      Previous orders to re-purchase certain recalled vehicles that have gone unfollowed, specifically those that involve various pickup and heavy-duty trucks and Dodge/Chrysler SUVs from 2008-2012 model years, will be reopened. FCA US LLC will notify potentially eligible drivers, who can opt for a free remedy in lieu of the repurchase.

4.      Additionally, there will be the appointment of an independent monitor who will oversee FCA US LLC's recall campaigns who will then report their findings to the NHTSA to ensure that all rules and regulations are being followed.

5.      The current Agreement will be in effect for the next three years, with FCA US LLC being granted the option of extending it another year.
