Since its 1966 introduction, the Dodge Charger has been a driving force in the muscle car community and has kept the American muscle spirit alive for decades with powerful engines and iconic Dodge style. The phrase Scat Pack was introduced to the Dodge lineup in the late 60s, creating high-performance versions of various models, including the Charger. What Engine Does the Dodge Charger Scat Pack Use?
As you may already know, the engine you get in the Dodge Charger depends on the trim level you choose. While the SXT and GT feature a V6 engine, the R/T trim comes with a HEMI V8. While still using a HEMI V8, the Scat Pack's engine features a larger displacement for even more power. While the R/T comes with a 5.7-liter displacement, the Scat Pack features a larger 6.4L HEMI V8 spanning 392 cubic inches. Its larger size offers the Charger a hefty 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a robust TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission that delivers power to the rear wheels. The Scat Pack features steering wheel paddle shifters for sequential gear control – essentially allowing for manual shifting without the use of a clutch. This provides a more hands-on driving experience. The Scat Pack is ready for the track with features like Launch Control, Launch Assist, and Line Lock, as well as an anti-slip rear differential.Â
Standard Dodge Charger Scat Pack Features
The Dodge Charger Scat Pack features a distinctive design to stand out from the rest of the lineup. Most notably, the Scat Pack's larger engine gets optimal cooling and airflow from numerous sources. For example, the SRT performance hood features a hood scoop with dual heat extractors on either side. Meanwhile, additional airflow is provided by an air duct on both sides of the aggressive grille. Other exterior features include LED brake lights, '392' badges on the front fenders noting the engine's size, LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, four-piston Brembo high-performance brakes, and 20x9-inch Low-Gloss Granite alloy wheels. Meanwhile, the Scat Pack Widebody is also available, adding prominent fender flares over 20x11-inch Devil's Rim alloy wheels. Inside, you'll find a flat-bottom leather-wrapped steering wheel, race-inspired aluminum pedals, steering wheel paddle shifters, dual-zone automatic climate control, an electronic T-shifter, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, and more.Â
What Last Call Models are Based on the Charger Scat Pack?
As you've probably already heard, the current generation of the Dodge Charger has come to an end following the 2023 model year. To celebrate its legendary status, Dodge created a lineup of three Last Call special editions. Two of these special editions are based on the Dodge Charger Scat Pack and Scat Pack Widebody. First, the Super Bee is a special edition honoring the legendary muscle car from the 1960s and 70s of the same name. The Charger Super Bee comes in two available colors; B5 Blue for Scat Pack models and Plum Crazy for Super Bee models with the Scat Pack Widebody. The Super Bee features exclusive graphics including an 'Angry Bee' image decal on the SRT performance hood and a 'Super Bee' inscription on the rear fenders with eye-catching stripes. The other Last Call edition based on the Scat Pack is the Swinger. The Charger Swinger throws it back to Dodge's lineup of 'Swinger' models from the 1970s. Like the Dodge Dart Swinger, the 2023 Charger Swinger features a green-on-green appearance, while Gold School gold accents add to the retro nostalgia. Gold accents are found on the grille, hood, and decklid badges and match the Gold School wheels. The cabin features mod-grain wood-like aluminum accents, paying homage to the wood grain found in the original swinger models.Â
