What Engines Are Available for the 2023 Dodge Challenger?

As you'd expect from a muscle car, the 2023 Dodge Challenger engine lineup certainly isn't lacking in the power department. Kicking off the extensive lineup of engine options is a 3.6-liter V6 engine housed inside the SXT and GT trims. This gives the Challenger 303 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. When you step up to the R/T trim, the famed 5.7L HEMI V8 gives you 375 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the R/T Scat Pack trim lays down 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque from a 392 cubic inch 6.4L HEMI V8. Standard for the SRT Hellcat is a supercharged 6.2L V8 that delivers 717 horsepower and 656 lb-ft of torque. The same engine comes standard with the SRT Hellcat Redeye and Hellcat Jailbreak. For these models, however, the engine puts out 797 and 807 horsepower, respectively, and 707 lb-ft of torque. While the SXT, GT, and Hellcat Redeye use an eight-speed automatic transmission, the R/T, R/T Scat Pack, and Hellcat, all feature a six-speed manual transmission. However, the automatic is still optional for these models. Rear-wheel drive comes standard with all Challenger trim levels. However, an all-wheel-drive system is available for the SXT and GT trims.

What is the Dodge Challenger Last Call Lineup?

As was previously mentioned, 2023 marks the end of the current form of the Dodge Challenger. While the entire Challenger lineup is being called the "Last Call,"  Dodge created three special edition Last Call models. First is the 'Swinger,' which pays tribute to the 1970s Dodge Dart Swinger. Based on the R/T Scat Pack, the Swinger features retro-style interior and exterior badging and decals. Additionally, the green theme is contrasted by Gold School gold exterior accents and wheels. Exterior paint colors for the Swinger include Sublime and F8 Green. The Shakedown edition pays tribute to a concept that never came to production in 2016. The Shakedown provides an aggressive black-and-red color scheme inside and out. Available in Destroyer Grey or Pitch Black, the Shakedown features a black and red stripe, 'Shakedown' graphics, a Shaker hood with a Mopar hood scoop, and a black Mopar hood pin kit. Last but certainly not least is the Black Ghost. The Challenger Black Ghost salutes Godfrey Qualls' 1970 Dodge Challenger RT that haunted Detroit's Woodward Avenue in the 1970s. The 2023 Challenger Black Ghost uses the Hellcat Redeye Widebody as its platform, featuring Pitch Black exterior paint, white striping on the deck lid, a black gator skin roof vinyl, black Brembo brake calipers, and much more.

Design and Features of the 2023 Dodge Challenger

The 2023 Dodge Challenger is the epitome of what it means to be an American Muscle car. Not only does its exterior design pay homage to the long-running heritage, but it also boasts the legendary model's high-performance nature. A fierce glare is given off by the front fascia with a  long, slim grill with two round headlights on either side. Above the grill, there is a slight overhang that exudes confidence and gives a commanding road presence. The Challenger's long Hood seamlessly flows back to the swooping roof line for an aerodynamic, high-performance appearance. Standard equipment for the Challenger's exterior includes LED daytime running lights, power-adjustable side mirrors, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED brake lights, keyless Enter n' Go passive entry, and more. Inside, you'll find an auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, six speakers, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an electronic T-shifter. Higher trim levels add things like a performance hood scoop, 20-inch alloy wheels, Brembo high-performance brakes, electronically controlled active exhaust, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, and much more.
